Please read this page before fitting any injector, pump or fuel system component bought from Atlantic Diesel Services Ltd. It applies to every purchase, whether made on injectors.ie, by phone or at our trade counter. Fitting the part means you accept these requirements. Failure to follow them may invalidate the warranty.
1. Who should fit the part
- Diesel injectors and pumps must be fitted by a competent, trained technician with the correct tools, workshop data and diagnostic equipment for the vehicle.
- The fault must be correctly diagnosed before fitting, and the root cause of the original failure found and fixed. A new part fitted to a vehicle with an unresolved underlying fault will fail again, and this is not covered.
- Check that the part number removed matches the part supplied, or that the part supplied is a correct direct replacement or successor. If in doubt, contact us before fitting.
2. Cleanliness
Modern common rail systems run at over 2,000 bar with clearances measured in microns. A particle too small to see can destroy an injector or pump. You must:
- Clean the area around the injectors, pipes and pump thoroughly before anything is disconnected.
- Work in a clean area and cap or plug every open fuel connection immediately.
- Leave the protective caps on the new part until the moment it is connected.
- Never blow compressed air into an open fuel system, and use only clean, lint-free materials.
- Never reuse fuel drained from the system.
3. Fuel system preparation (mandatory)
- A new OE or OE-equivalent fuel filter must be fitted every time an injector or pump is replaced. Keep the receipt; we may ask for it on a warranty claim.
- If there is any sign of contamination (water, dirt, rust, metal particles, petrol, AdBlue or the wrong fuel), the fuel tank, lines, rail and pipes must be flushed or replaced and the lift/in-tank pump checked before the new part is fitted.
- If a high-pressure pump has failed and shed metal debris, the whole high-pressure system (pump, rail, pipes and injectors) must be cleaned or replaced. Fitting new injectors into a system containing debris will destroy them, and this is not covered by warranty.
- Use only fuel that meets EN 590. Damage caused by poor-quality fuel, water, non-approved additives or non-conforming bio-diesel is not covered. Fuel quality after the filling-station nozzle is the vehicle user’s responsibility.
4. Fitting
- Fit new sealing washers, O-rings and seals every time. Clean the injector seat and re-cut it if needed so the injector seals correctly.
- Fit new high-pressure pipes where the vehicle manufacturer specifies it (most do), and new clamp or stretch bolts where specified.
- Tighten everything to the vehicle manufacturer’s torque settings.
- Code the injectors to the ECU (IMA/QR/C2I code) and carry out any adaptation, priming or bleeding procedures required by the manufacturer.
- Check for leaks and correct leak-off before returning the vehicle to the customer.
- Do not dismantle, adjust or tamper with the part. Broken seals or signs of tampering void the warranty.
- Diesel systems work under very high pressure. Wear eye protection and gloves.
5. Warranty
New injectors and pumps carry a 12-month warranty from the invoice date against manufacturing defects. A valid invoice is required. The warranty covers the part itself; see section 9 for costs we do not cover.
No warranty will be given if the returned part is found to contain contaminants (dirt, water, metal particles, wrong fuel or additives), or if the failure was caused by:
- incorrect fitting, coding or torque;
- misdiagnosis or an unresolved fault elsewhere on the vehicle;
- not fitting a new fuel filter or not cleaning a contaminated system;
- physical damage, dropping, damaged connectors or poor handling;
- dismantling, adjustment or tampering.
Units sometimes arrive slightly wet inside the packaging from calibration test fluid. This is normal and not a fault.
6. How a warranty claim works
- Contact us first on +353 66 7193200 or info@injectors.ie before removing anything, especially if you think more than one injector has failed. It is rare for a full set to be faulty.
- Remove the part carefully, drain all fuel, refit the protective caps and return it in a sealed plastic bag in its original packaging. Carriers fine us for leaking parcels and we may pass that charge on.
- Include your invoice number, vehicle registration and mileage, date fitted, fitter’s name, fault description and fault codes, and proof that a new fuel filter was fitted.
- We send the part to the manufacturer or supplier for testing and investigation. This usually takes several weeks and is outside our control. We will update you when we hear back.
- If a manufacturing defect is confirmed, we will replace the part or refund its price.
- If the manufacturer or supplier finds contamination, incorrect fitting or no fault, the claim is rejected. Their technical findings decide the claim. A testing or inspection fee may be charged where no fault is found or the fault was not caused by the part. Rejected parts can be collected; uncollected parts are disposed of under our uncollected parts policy.
7. Need the vehicle back on the road during a claim?
We cannot supply a free replacement while a claim is being investigated. If you need the vehicle running, you will need to buy a replacement part at the normal price. If the original claim is later accepted, we will refund or credit the price of the original faulty part. The replacement part carries its own warranty on the same terms. If it also fails because of fitting or contamination, that is not covered either. This is why the cause must be found and fixed first.
8. Trade customers
For business and trade customers, the manufacturer’s or supplier’s test report is final in deciding a warranty claim, and the warranty is limited to the replacement or refund of the part.
9. Costs we are not liable for
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Atlantic Diesel Services Ltd. is not liable for associated or consequential costs, including: labour for removal, refitting or diagnosis; workshop charges; recovery or towing; vehicle hire; loss of use, earnings or business; other parts or components; or damage to the engine or vehicle.
10. If you are a consumer
If you buy as a private consumer (not for a business), you also have rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2022, and nothing on this page affects those statutory rights. In summary: you can reject a faulty item for a refund within 30 days; for the first 12 months a fault is presumed to have been there at delivery unless we can show otherwise; and you may seek a remedy for up to six years. A fault caused by incorrect fitting, contamination or misuse is not a fault in the goods. Online purchases by consumers may also be cancelled within 14 days of delivery if the part is unused and in its original packaging. For details see ccpc.ie.
11. Exchange units and surcharges (core returns)
Where a surcharge is charged on an exchange unit, it is refunded when an acceptable old unit is returned. To qualify, the old unit must:
- be the same or an equivalent part number, type and model as supplied;
- be complete and intact, not dismantled or stripped, with solenoid and connections where relevant;
- not be damaged by impact, crushing, dropping or the removal method, cracked, broken or excessively corroded;
- be drained of fuel, wiped clean, capped and bagged in the box the replacement came in.
Units that do not meet these conditions are not eligible for surcharge credit.
